Rawalpindi announces weather emergency holiday
Islamabad, Rawalpindi receives heavy rain in the past 24 hours

The Rawalpindi administration on Thursday announced a one-day holiday as an emergency has been declared in the garrison city due to severe weather conditions and flooding in nullas.
In light of weather conditions, a one-day holiday has been declared in the Rawalpindi district. The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has issued a notification regarding this holiday. The public is urged to remain at home and avoid unnecessary outings.
Significant rainfall has been recorded in various areas of Islamabad, with measurements including 51 mm in Saidpur, 73 mm in Golra, 87 mm in Bokra, 57 mm in PMD, 66 mm in Shamsabad, and 102 mm in Chaklala.
Water has begun to accumulate in sensitive low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, prompting WASA teams to remain on high alert. According to a WASA spokesperson, the operation to drain the water will commence once the rain completely stops.
Reports indicate that water is entering homes around Nala Lei, particularly in the areas of Gowalmandi, New Katarian, and Pirodhai. An alert will be issued if the water level in Gowalmandi reaches 14.1 feet.
According to Muhammad Usman Gujar, Media Coordinator for Rescue Rawalpindi, Rescue 1122 has been on alert since late last night in light of the rains in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Rescue personnel are actively monitoring Nala Lei and the low-lying areas.
